The Quick Verdict
The Virgin Voyages Eastern Mediterranean cruise is one of the best ways to see Greece and Turkey if you value all-inclusive pricing, adult-only atmosphere, and genuine quality food. The 11-night itinerary gives you enough time to actually experience each port — not just photograph it from the dock.
The itinerary is exceptional. Istanbul alone is worth the price of admission. Ephesus is one of the most impressive archaeological sites on earth. The ship is beautiful, the food is genuinely good, and the all-inclusive model means no bill shock at the end. Our only real complaints: Santorini's tender process eats into your port time, and one day in Mykonos isn't enough.

Ephesus gets overwhelmed by cruise buses by 10am. Book the earliest possible time slot (8am is ideal) and you'll have the ancient city nearly to yourself. By noon it's shoulder-to-shoulder.
At tender ports, the ship's excursions guarantee your tender priority and ensure you're back on time. For Santorini specifically, we recommend booking through the ship or a Viator tour that explicitly guarantees return transport.
A private guide for 4–6 hours in Istanbul or Athens costs $80–120/person and transforms the experience. You'll cover twice as much ground, skip lines, and get context no audio guide provides. Worth every dollar.
Google Maps offline downloads are free. Before each port day, download the city map so you can navigate without data. Pair with a local SIM or an international plan — roaming in Turkey and Greece is affordable.

What We Loved
No nickel-and-diming. All meals, all drinks (including alcohol), Wi-Fi, and gratuities are included. The final bill was exactly what we expected — no surprises.
Most Eastern Med cruises are 7 nights. The 11-night itinerary meant 2 full days in Istanbul and enough time to actually explore each port rather than rush back to the ship.
Resilient Lady is modern, well-designed, and doesn't feel like a floating mall. The outdoor spaces, pool deck, and dining venues are all excellent.
If you're traveling as a couple or with adults, this is a significant quality-of-life upgrade. The vibe is relaxed, social, and decidedly grown-up.
Two days in Istanbul and a half-day at Ephesus are the highlights of the itinerary. Both are genuinely among the most impressive places we've ever visited.
The Test Kitchen, Pink Agave, and Razzle Dazzle were all legitimately good restaurants — not just 'good for a cruise ship.' We ate well every night.
What Could Be Better
Mykonos and Santorini each get only one day, which feels rushed. If Greek islands are your priority, a land-based trip or island-hopping itinerary would give you more depth.
Getting from the ship to Santorini by tender took 45 minutes each way. Plan accordingly — you lose 1.5 hours of your port day just on transport.
Virgin Voyages markets itself as a party ship, but the reality is more 'sophisticated lounge' than 'nightclub.' If you want late-night energy, it's there — but it's not the dominant vibe.
Virgin Voyages shore excursions are 30–50% more expensive than booking the same tour independently. We booked all our excursions through Viator and saved significantly.
Everything on Virgin Voyages runs through their app — dining reservations, shore excursions, entertainment. It works well 90% of the time, but glitches at the worst moments.
